What I'm Up To!

Welcome to my extended update for the month of May!  This month isn't over yet but it seems as though it has dragged on while somehow also taking an eternity.  I got home from college almost exactly a month ago after finishing a successful freshman year!  Not much has changed in good ol' Harborcreek, but things definitely feel fresh, albeit a tad busy.

I started an internship with The Erie Playhouse!  I have admired this place and looked up to those who perform/work here since I was very young, so it's a great opportunity to get to join them and help out.  This summer, I am working behind the scenes with the marketing and administration team.  I came at a pretty busy time, as they prepare to launch the new season, so I was thrown right into the belly of the beast.  I have been given the task of writing newsletters, press releases, and summaries for shows.  While this blog has kind of prepped me for that, these were challenges all on their own.  I also launched a Spotify page for them  and intend to post playlists to help promote their upcoming shows.  Along with all of this, I am working to figure out ways to boost attendance for their next shows, Freaky Friday and Spring Awakening (two very good shows that I would personally recommend even if I weren't working here).  I have lots of really good ideas that I hope they, and you, enjoy!

My second job for the summer is to get that money.  I got a bit tired of Burger King, though I still miss all my old coworkers, so I decided it was time for a change.  I am now a hostess at local hot spot, The Skunk and Goat Tavern.  I gotta give hostesses credit, the job is not as easy as I first assumed it was.  There is soooooooo  much problem solving, guys!  Everyone who works there is super sweet though and I am already feeling at home.  Come stop by and say hi!

Kate went to Prom!
Along with all of this, I have made fitness a goal/priority this summer.  I go to the YMCA for a class 2-3 times a week, and have made it a goal to run a 5k by the end of summer.  Some of this is to lose weight, but also to gain a confidence I haven't had since I quit soccer.  So far, 3 weeks in, I am roughly 3 pounds down from my weight when I returned from college!
I am working hard and don't want to lose this motivation, so if any of you guys catch me slacking, please get a slappin'.

So that's my summer so far.  I am loving being home with my family and I love all of my opportunities I have been given so far!  Here's to a fantastic summer!

With love,
Sam
