Ways to Stay Sane

As I have noted many, many times on this blog - I am busy.  Like, so over the top busy I actually had a dream the other night that I arrived at work two hours late and instead of yelling at me they just moved my schedule around.  Note: Why I said dream and not nightmare.  As my coworker pointed out today when I told her why I can't go to the gym, "Well with an internship, getting a degree, and being in a show it's no wonder."  While points were made there, I do still need to spend time for myself.  As my blog becomes more and more list-style, I wanted to walk through some ways I stay sane throughout these busy times.  Also, that picture is totally not me writing this at work I would never.  I wrote during my break.

Coffee

My love.  I talk about you a lot.  Recently a friend asked me if I drank my coffee black.  I responded, "I used to, until like 11th grade when I wanted to actually enjoy coffee.  Now I only go sans cream and sugar when I hate myself (sorry Dad).

Fun Classes

If you are in school and there is any possible way that you can schedule a class that is for fun (and also maybe a gen-ed) do it!  I swear it will be a saving grace.  Getting credits filled but not feeling like you're constantly straining your brain is a great feeling.  Don't get me wrong, any class involves work, but honestly if it looks fun and you can work it into your schedule?  Do it.

Podcasts

I wrote an article about my favorite podcasts and since then I have added a few: The Ensemblist, Natural Disasters, and Famous Fates.  I plug into these on my commute and pretend that I am not on a bus at 8:30 in the morning.

Baking

I showed you guys my Kitchen-Aid mixer photo shoot right? I haven't come up with a name yet although as I write this I think Frankie sounds kind of fun.  Gender neutral too!  Anyway, when I have a free moment (usually Friday afternoons) I like to make some no stress, no recipe needed cookies.  Hopefully nobody gets sick of them any time soon.

Walks

I wrote about this one in my anxiety post, and although I don't have as much time as I did last year, I still try to get some fresh, Pittsburgh air every once in a while.  If I am lucky, I see stuff for the Jason Momoa movie they're filming on campus.  I can't believe I will get to watch that movie and say I walked out of rehearsal as they were filming what looked to be an ending scene.

TikTok

Don't come at me!  I swear if you download this app you will understand the addiction.  Truly, teens are the funniest people alive, and I myself - an almost 20-year-old lady will vouch for them.

The Bachelor

As I write this, I am not sure if this helps me stay sane or drives me further into madness.  What was Peter thinking bringing Alayah back?!

Friend Movie Nights

Whether it is with my roommates or other friends (whom are all equally important to me!) I have had a movie night almost every weekend this semester and let me tell you. . . it is amazing.  Curling up and watching terrible movies is a great way to ground yourself.  Last weekend I watched Milo and Otis twice in one night.  Talk about complete lack of productivity in the best way possible.

Sleep

I try to get at least 7 hours a night.  Key word: Try.  I am not always successful.

 ***

I know there is not 10 but honestly?  The fact that I wrote this many in my break at work is a big feat.  Also as a pre-p.s. I do try to go to the gym at least twice a week but I couldn't tell ya if that keeps me sane. Often times, I find that the guys standing at equipment doing nothing drives me even more mad.

Spreading love,
Sam
