Top 10 Things I Have Not Hated About These Past 5 Months
I was going to make a sob story post about how I, "didn't accomplish anything" this pandemic. As if a pandemic comes along every few years as an opportunity to reinvent yourself. Sarcasm aside, you've seen the nicely edited Instagram posts about how "It's okay to not get your life together! It's a pandemic. It is okay to struggle!" I wholeheartedly agree with these post. I mean, I personally have gained a few pounds, spent my fair share of days in bed, and cried numerous times. I have spent money on bear paw oven mitts and a rocket dog humidifier. My choices? Maybe not solid. It's possible though, that this globally disastrous event wasn't my time to magically turn into an elite Hollywood glamour icon. Yet, I haven't come away empty handed. There are been a few things these past few months that maybe don't suck so much. Welcome to my "Top 10 Things Sam Has Not Hated These Past 5 Months" list. Buckle up.
10. Work
Can you believe I am putting work in my top 10 list? Neither can I. When one of your jobs is teaching lil' ones how to audition via Zoom and the other is working at a spiffy country club, it isn't so bad. I actually don't mind my get out of the house free activities. Plus money is always nice. More bear paw oven mitts.
9. My Bed
Would I rather sleep on a hard Twin XL or my comfy Queen with my cat on the left side of me (as always)? Being home has its advantages.
8. Embroidery
Number 10 has prevented me from enjoying this as much as I would like, but I have found I am actually kind of okay at this, and it is calming. Bonus!
7. Lack of Smog
Is my breathing worse in Erie? Yes. Is it because of pollution? No. So. . . I guess it is not all that bad. I definitely love my pets more than the allergies they cause me.
6. Long Car Rides
Car rides in rural PA are way more relaxing than fearing for my life in Pittsburgh traffic. Also, Humphrey joins me! Only downside? Sometimes I cannot make the perfect playlist and have to pull over to spend ten minutes scrolling through Spotify. Side note: take a shot every time I mention my pets.
5.
*Couldn't think of one*
4. My Family is Safe
This one isn't sarcastic. I am very grateful for this one.
3. Kate Did My Laundry Today
Thank you Kate! Though I am deducting points because your sneeze is too loud.
2. My Pets
Not quite number one, but they couldn't be left out. Pour one out for Leo, since he had to get his tail amputated due to his nervous consumption of his own appendage. Momo is a sass rat as always. Humphrey has perfected his art of scaring away bikers. Since they are an actual number, this reference is worth 5 shots.
1. Tim Hortons
Step your game up Pittsburgh. The Canadians know hockey. They also know hockey themed coffee chains. Tim Bits >> Munchkins. I get Tim Hortons at least once a week, if not more.
Remember when we all were thinking this thing would be over in May? Wishful thinking! Until then, stay safe, mask up, and think of a good number 5 for me.
Lots of love and take another shot for my pets,
Sam
Other cool things include: Hamilton on Disney+, My boss's cat, the beach, that one guy that handed me $30, etc... etc...
These were not cool enough for #5.
